This week, one of my fellow Tall Tale Features uber-buddies, Brock Heasley of none other than the freaking awesome webcomic “The SuperFogeys” has showered us with his rendition of Bill and Princess Gina, and MAN is it a rendition!! I love this drawing, and a BIG thanks to Brock for taking the time to draw this up. I particularly like how he kept the line at the pencil stage, and added the color. It has something that I really like… a something that to me is reminiscent of one of my favorite comic masters of comic books, Gene Colan. Thank you, Brock! Now, get over to Brock’s site and show ‘im the love, LOB-style!! You will NOT be disappointed if you have never read SuperFogeys. It’s one of the best and brightest out there on the webs.

So, I was talking to my Tall Tale Features compadre, and soon-to-be Th3rd World Studios (publisher of SuperFogeys, and the forthcoming Legend of Bill comic book) brethren Brock Heasley of SuperFogeys, (one of my favorite webcomics out there) and we dreamed up a collaboration, and it spawned into our doing an Origins story for one of his SuperFogey’s characters together. He writes, I draw. I was hoping for Spy Gal, and low and behold, bammo, I got ‘er. Here’s a sketch of her in my own style that I shot over to Brock for funsies, the way I see a younger Spy Gal, as a teaser of things to come. Hm, and we might even see another lil’ hottie of Brock’s in there too. Stay tuned here and at Brock’s great site for more info to come!

Been doing a few sketches for an upcoming Superfogeys: Origins 2-pager for Brock Heasley, and here’s one of the sketches (I’m pretty sure I haven’t posted this here yet…)

Wanted to re-post this to maximize exposure and g et even more submissions - I’m proud to announce that I am collaborating with Brock Heasley (Zuda winner for writing “Monsterplex”) at SuperFogeys.com on an awesome Spy Gal Origins story (Brock wrote the script and I will be functioning as art director and picking the artist for the gig, as well as supplying the character designs for two NEW characters) that will debut in August… so come one, come all, send us your submissions and let’s get this party started! ONLY ONE WEEK LEFT TO GET YOUR SPY GAL ORIGIN SUBMISSIONS IN!

As many of you know, I and Brock Heasley are holding a contest over at www.Superfogeys.com to see who will draw the next AWESOME Superfogeys Origins story, focusing on a young Spy Gal, as well as two NEW characters that will set her path into motion. Brock is writing, and I will be the art director/Evil OVERLORD (bwah-ha-ha) reigning like a bad rash over the awesomely astute arteest who shows the chops to pull it off, thus the contest shall dictate!

One week from today, on Tuesday, May 4th, the deadline will hit and Iwill spend the next couple of days making my final judgment as to who will be the artist on the story. The winner will be announced on Thursday, May 6th! We’ve recieved some excellent submissions, which I will show off here tomorrow in this very blog! Full details including what and where to submit–and what you’ll get if you win–right here. 

I am also doing the character design for the 2 new characters in the story, Manny and Monica, and HERE THEY ARE.

First up is Manny, a french voodoo man, and bad influence on impressionable future Spy Gals:

Next up is Monica… a thief and jealous friend/eventual nemesis of young Spy Gal… she’s a lot like Spy Gal in her looks, except she’s a little more amazonian in stature, taller and a bit older… here she is in her everyday thief-type attire… (remember, this takes place in the 40’s):

And here is Monica in her superhero attire… as Brock described her “She pretty much just wears a cape”, lol…
